"The flow of time is always cruel... A thing that doesn't change with time is a memory of younger days... " --- Shiek (Zelda)
There were three things that happened in 1998 of which I always remember- my entrance to the university, the passed-away of my grandfather, and the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (OoT).
Left to Right: Ocarina of Time (N64), Wind Walker (GC) and its launch bonus: original OoT & Master Quests, and Twilight Princess (GC) which is said to be more valuable than the Wii version.
If I say Mario Kart 64 and Star Fox 64 are my good friends accompanying me while I was preparing for the entrance exam, it is fair to say OoT is a bad friend luring me to a rotten life in the university. Day and night I crawled dungeons and came out with ways to open locked doors or find hidden treasures. Playing a game was more important than studying. How crazy I was.
OoT on N64 was not only a blockbuster, but also an all-time classic. It was too perfect such that both console descendants: Wind Walker and Twilight Princess were shadowed under its brightness. Now OoT returns with a 3D effect and better graphics! This remake combines the original legend and master quests that had never been released in the US. There are tons of examples that unsatisfactory remakes hurt the reputation of the original classics, it is smart for Nintendo to add almost nothing into the 3D edition. So we can see the pure classic defining modern action- adventure game.
Buy a N3DS for playing The Legend of Zelda and other games.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. I was too late to register for a free soundtrack. I guess the remake of Majora’s Mask, a relative odd installment in this series, will be announced soon.
Child Link met child Princess Zelda for the first time in the Hyrule castle.
2011 is the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. Except OoT 3D, Skyward Sword on Wii will be released in the year. Happy anniversary, my favorite game franchise.
